Walking Dead Suicide – Rise of The Resistance

The Helsinki, Finland natives Walking Dead Suicide have released their new album Rise of the Resistance via Inverse Records this past April giving everyone a taste of their own style of death metal majesty. The seven song album consists of dark and haunting tunes set to test the dark side of all that is Helsinki’s underground. Being influenced by bands such as Carcass, Dying Fetus, Opeth, and Arch Enemy, Walking Dead Suicide has definitely carved out a niche of their own with Rise of the Resistance.

At first they may seem like every other death metal band filled with overbearing blast beats and unbearable vocals, but then they throw the curve ball that gives them that unique blend of progressive while staying true to their death metal ways. “My previous bands were pure thrash and death metal. So, when you’re writing music you have certain rules to follow. Out of nowhere I just threw all the rules out and started to play whatever whenever I want to. No rules at all! I also hope that, this freedom is one of our strength when compared to some other band” explains the bands leader.

Their diversity is strongly shown in the song “Final Season” with a range of musicianship that takes you on a rollercoaster ride of dark emotions. Rise of the Resistance is a consistent collection of dark and haunting songs that may surprise some with great melodies, sweet guitar works, and passionate playing made to test even the darkest of all minds. Walking Dead Suicide may not be for everyone, but they are definitely a force to be reckoned with in the underground death metal community.
