For all you lovers of all things LoFi, London-based Live Politics has created a high flying, fuzzy garage track for your repeated listening pleasure.
“There She Goes” is the title of the song, which tells a story of a long-time relationship that had ended suddenly and now the narrator is trying to move on despite running into this ex. He is awkwardly avoiding contact with her, thus the main motif if this little relationship anecdote.
The song begins with a punk-ish repeating guitar riff with a bed of bass swelling beneath it awaiting the entrance of the drums to round out the intro. The bass in the verses really catches the listener’s ear with its simplistic bouncing quality that allows the bass to assume the role of lead instrument during these passes.
The choruses are very powerful – “There she goes walking on her own again, but I don’t care, please don’t stare, I’m not there.” These lines are sung with such energy and emotion it will force you to sing along every time you hear this song, whether in your car, iPod, or just repeating over and over in your head.
The song even offers something for the return listener – it is tough to hear the first time through, but after a while you will hear one of the band members whistling a harmony in the choruses – just to add a little more personality to the sound.
All in all, “There She Goes” is a very strong showing by Live Politics that is sure to please the inner LoFi garage rock aficionado in all of us.
