A Yellow Field – On A Boat

Get ready for a soul cleansing journey from an indie-grass folk quartet out of Waterloo, Ontario Canada called A Yellow Field.  A Yellow Field has a light hearted and honest view about nature and the trials and tribulations of everyday life.  The whimsical journey begins with the quartet’s latest CD On a Boat, which was released on March 10, 2012 featuring eleven heartwarming tracks that tell tales about nature and romance.

A lesson in nature begins with the first track “The Ocean.”  This track has a rich bluegrass sound with a banjo “fluttering” throughout along with soulful vocals which bring out the upbeat tone of the track.  This track is a peaceful tale about a person having a great time sailing on the ocean and enjoying the tranquility of nature.

Next, the happiness rolls on with the third track “Eureka.”  This track has a joyous tone throughout with its rich bluegrass sound with a “fluttering” banjo and melodic guitar riffs, along with soulful vocal harmonies which bring out the carefree attitude of the track.  This track is a peaceful tale about a person being happy with their life both personally and professionally.

Meanwhile, romance is blossoming in the fourth track “To the Rescue.”  This track has more of a light hearted folk sound with a “fluttering” banjo and soulful spoken word vocals.  This track is a heartwarming tale a man who has fallen in love with a beautiful woman.  The man wants to be with his “dream girl” forever and show her a good time.

Finally, the soul cleansing journey ends in heartache with the sixth track “What Used to Be You.”  This track also has a light hearted folk sound with a “fluttering’ banjo and soulful vocal harmonies, along with obnoxious “foot stomping” which brings out the resentment in the track.  This track is an angry tale about a man who his tired of his girlfriend’s nasty attitude.  The man’s girlfriend is no longer the kind and beautiful woman that he fell in love with.

A Yellow Field is a fantastic indie-grass folk quartet that sings and plays their music with brutal honesty and superb musicianship.  A Yellow Field will bring folk and bluegrass back onto the mainstream music scene.  This will open the ears of younger music fans.
